SHANE MICHAEL McCLEARY

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa – Shane Michael McCleary, 35, of North Liberty, Iowa, passed away on August 2, 2024.

There was a private family viewing that took place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Shane was born on April 8, 1989, in Muscatine, the son of Jerry and Diane Garrett McCleary.

Shane graduated from Louisa-Muscatine High School in 2007 and the University of Iowa in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences. He was employed as a Lab Technician for 12 years.

Shane enjoyed playing golf with his dad and brother, fishing, and working out in the gym. He also enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite teams, the Chicago Bears and Cubs, and of course, the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Shane will be deeply missed by his parents, Jerry and Diane McCleary of Muscatine; his brother, Eric McCleary of Muscatine; grandparents, Howard (Pete) and Bea McCleary; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and his beloved dog, Koya.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Floyd and Ruth Garrett and Norma Garrett; paternal grandmother, Effie McCleary; and aunts, Karen Everhart, Linda Lindle, Jane McCleary, and Barb Miller.

Shane gave the gift of life by donation to the Iowa Donor Network.
