Sharon Langel Obituary
SHARON LANGEL
MUSCATINE, Iowa – Sharon Langel, 69, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Senior Star in Davenport.
Sharon was born on December 2, 1956, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Lillian (nee Hartman) Gerdts. She married David Joseph Langel on September 9, 1978, at the St. Mary’s Church in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2003.
Sharon was a member of the Ss. Mary and Mathias Catholic Church and Midwest Corvette Club. She donated to the annual cake auctions for Muscatine High school and a key member of the Class of 1975 reunion planning committee. She also was involved in boy scouts.
Sharon had a special love for baking. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aroma of something sweet in the oven, as she perfected recipes. Each year, she carried on a cherished tradition of making huge batches of her famous sugar cookies, sharing them with family and friends and spreading holiday cheer. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She found great happiness in decorating and shopping for the perfect gift for those she loved. Sharon was passionate about animal welfare, frequently donating to local shelters.
She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and joy she brought to those around her.
Sharon is survived by her son, Brandon (Jaclyn) Langel; granddaughter, Elena Rose Langel; and siblings, Don (Christa) Gerdts, Ed (Melody) Gerdts, Fred (Beverly) Gerdts, Deb (Mark) Steffen, Dean (Jill) Gerdts, Randy Gerdts, and Lori (Doug) Spitzer.
She is preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband, David.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Ss. Mary and Mathias Catholic Church, officiated by Reverend Chris Weber. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
