MUSCATINE, Iowa – Shirley M. Paetz, 96, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at UnityPoint Muscatine.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Greenwood Cemetery. Reverend Willie Rosin will officiate.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Shirley was born on May 3, 1927, in Muscatine, the daughter of Reinhart and Carol Goddard Paetz

Shirley was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She worked at Paetz grocery store. She was an avid Cubs fan and loved her sweets.

Shirley is survived by her niece, Elizabeth Lysaught, and her children, Meredith, and Catherine; nephew, Tyler Carter and his wife, Kim, and their children, Jack, and Liza; brother-in-law, Michael Carter and significant other, Kathleen Schippers; and sisters-in-law, Darlene, and Marilyn Ballenger

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerome Paetz; stepsisters, Frances Carter and Katie Ball and her husband, Allen; and stepbrothers, Ronald Ballenger, and Daryl Ballenger.
