SHIRLEY JEAN STALKFLEET
MUSCATINE, Iowa – Shirley Jean Stalkfleet, 86, passed away on May 26, 2026, at Mercer Manor in Aledo, Illinois.

Shirley was born on May 25, 1940, in Muscatine, the daughter of Steve and Blanche King Pulliam. She married Merle Schmelzer and later divorced. She then married Daniel Stalkfleet and later divorced.
Shirley worked at HJ Heinz in the filling department for many years. She also worked at Keller Ladder.
Shirley enjoyed playing bingo, playing slots at the casino, and watching tennis.
Shirley is survived by her children, Wendy (Richard) Payne, Lisa (Craig) Lamb, Scott (Leanna) Schmelzer, and Michael (Melissa) Stalkfleet; grandchildren, Tad Payne, Alexandria Schmelzer, MacKenzie Schmelzer, Daniel Schmelzer, Tyson Lamb, Samantha Ralke, Nicholas Lamb, Kaely Schmelzer Spratt, Kimmi Schmelzer West, Olivia Schmelzer, Katelynn Schmelzer, Savana Stalkfleet, and Bryce Stalkfleet; great granddaughter, Elizabeth Payne and 12 additional great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and sister, Doris Hanson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Todd Schmelzer; sister, Marlene Blaesing; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Hanson and Don Blaesing.
