MUSCATINE, IOWA – Wayne ‘Jake’ Metzger, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at University of Iowa Hospital and clinics.

Jake was the first-born son of Ernest and Vera Morgan Metzger on December 17, 1947. He married Carol Munday on August 11, 1972, and had one son, Wayne Jr.

Jake worked for many years and retired from McKee Button Co.

He enjoyed outings to families houses, listening to music, and tinkering with mowers and any small engines he found lying around. He enjoyed his retirement to the fullest.

Jake Metzger will truly be missed by his wife Carol of 53 years; his son, Wayne Jr.; his favorite dog, Cookie who was always by his side; siblings, Barb Foster, Carolyn Bailey, Sheila Burke, Keith Metzger and wife, Jana, and Jody Metzger and wife, Marci; sisters-in-law, Sally Metzger and Linda Neely; and brother-in-law, Ron Munday.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Metzger; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Burke, Richard Phillips, and Al Foster. May they all rest in peace.
