MUSCATINE, Iowa – Wendy Sue Petersen, 72, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at home.

Funeral Service will be Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. A time for food and fellowship will follow the burial at Zion Lutheran Church. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com

Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club.

Wendy was born on January 19, 1953, in Muscatine, the daughter of Donald and Genevieve Hatfield McDaniel. She married Dennis Petersen on December 6, 1968, at Zion Lutheran Church in Muscatine.

She was a homemaker and volunteered her time through hospice and Zion Lutheran Church. She loved going to Kalona with her husband, flowers, and bird watching. She was a great cake decorator and cook. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog, Missy.

Wendy is survived by her husband Dennis of Muscatine; two daughters, Angie Jensen and husband, Glenn, and Amy Petersen; six grandchildren, Abby Emery and husband, Nick, Dakota Horton, Kelsey Hodges and husband, Damaso, Emily Jensen, DJ Petersen, and Jacob Wiley; eight great grandchildren, Ella, Isla, Elise, Harper, Patience, Eliora, Canaan, and Micah; and three siblings, Clarence ‘Bill’ Higgerson, James and Kay McDaniel, and Connie and Shelby Whitlow.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Stephen McDaniel.
