Carl Villhauer IOWA CITY, Iowa #45;- Carl Max Villhauer, 94, of Iowa City Rehabilitation amp; Health Care Center, in Iowa City, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Mercy Hospital following a lengthy illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lensing Funeral amp; Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave. in Iowa City. The Rev. Doug Cue will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children. Mr. Villhauer was born May 30, 1916, in Iowa City, the son of Louie and Minnie Price Villhauer. He married Elouise Achey on Oct. 18, 1937, in Pasadena, Calif. He served in the United States Navy as a signalman during World War II. He worked as a semi driver for more than 52 years, driving for the Logomacio Group, Maher Trucking, Eldon Miller Trucking, Western Transport and Liquid Grow. He later worked as a mechanic for Spendler Tire, retiring in 1991. He was a lifelong Johnson County resident and had been a member of the Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Elouise of Iowa City; two daughters, Margey Upson of Milan, Ill. and Jean Alkin and her husband, Richard, of Hills; two sons, Richard Villhauer of Iowa City and Jerry Villhauer and his wife, Sharon, of Riverside; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Villhauer of Muscatine; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five sisters, LaChrista Schockley of Grinnell; Gretchen Hess and her husband, Raymond, Letha Hein, Marie Svotas and her husband, Robert, all of Iowa City, Joanne Hummer of Oxford; two brothers, Howard Villhauer and his wife, Mary, of Iowa City, Donald Villhauer and his wife, Marcia, of Tipton; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn, Mazie, and Dorothy Villhauer all of Iowa City; one brother-in-law, Edward Huffman of Arizona. He was preceded by his son, James Villhauer, four brothers and two sisters.
