DENNIS LYNN DILLON
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Dennis L. Dillon, 80, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at the First Presbyterian Church. Reverend Doctor Pamela Saturnia will officiate. Masks and social distancing are required at the church.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Dennis was born on January 3, 1941, in Marengo, the son of Leonard and Edna (Grum) Dillon. He married Shirley Hammond on August 27, 1961, in Hedrick. They had been married for nearly 60 years.
Dennis attended Hedrick High School, then attended Drake University. Dennis went from flagpole/water tower painter to business owner of a marina and a woodwork manufacturing company. He retired from Hon Industries and continued woodworking until death.
He was a private pilot for 55 years. Dennis had been a member of the United States Army and Airforce National Guards. He was a member of the Iowa City AeroHawks and the Lone Tree Flyers RC Clubs. Dennis was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Shirley Dillon; his daughter, Debra VanOrnam of Omaha; his grandchildren, Emily Reno (Dan) of Cedar Falls, Dillon VanOrnam (Cassandra) of Omaha; and Franco and Zoa VanOrnam of Omaha; one great-grandson, Dennis VanOrnam; and his sister, Ruby Beal of Des Moines.
He is preceded in death by his parents.

Shirley, we were very saddened to read that Dennis had passed away last week. We are so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed talking with Dennis about his wonderful woodworking projects at the many musical events we all attended. Richard and MaryAlice Sessler
Shirley - I am heartbroken to hear this shocking news. I always enjoyed visiting with you both at church and appreciated your sincere concern for my family and others. I remember my kids going down the street to your house to play with your grandkids. He will greatly missed. May God comfort you and your family. I'm unable to return to Muscatine for the visitation or funeral, but I will be there in prayer and spirit.

Shirley - I was so saddened to hear about Dennis. My heart goes out to you - a lifetime together is never enough. I so enjoyed being around Dennis, he was always so positive, encouraging and fun. He will be greatly missed by his RC family! My deepest sympathies to you and your family.

Shirley, words can't express how saddened we are to learn that I've lost one of my best friends and you your dear husband. Know that you have our deepest sympathy and are in our thoughts.
