James Musack RIVERSIDE, Iowa - Sgt. James P. Musack, 23, Riverside, was killed in action on Nov. 21, 2006, in Samarra, Iraq. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at Highland High School Gymnasium, south of Riverside. Chaplain William Kneemiller will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Public Cemetery with full military rites by the Iowa National Guard. Casket bearers are the Iowa National Guard; his brother, Reggie Grandstaff; and special cousin, Nicholas Newlin. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Riverside, with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a time of sharing at 7 p.m. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left for the Musack family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Sgt. Musack was born July 20, 1983, in Iowa City, the son of Mark Rorex and Yvette Musack Eastom. He was a 2002 graduate of Highland High School where he played all sports. He enjoyed four-wheeling, snowmobiling and being with friends and family. He enlisted with the 308th Army Reserves in 2000 and began active duty in December 2004 until the present. His tour was to end Friday, Dec. 1, 2006. Survivors include his mother, Yvette Eastom and husband Jim of Glenpool, Okla.; his father, Mark Rorex of North Liberty; special aunt, DeeAnna Newlin and fiancé, Ricky Bartley of Tulsa, Okla.; his fiancée, Melissa Martin of Tulsa; a brother, Reggie Grandstaff of Coralville; Big Brother, Mark Gross of Williamsburg; two sisters, Morgan Rorex of Aurora, Ill. and Megan Rorex of North Liberty; special cousins, Nicholas Newlin of Tulsa and Tiffany Wells of Aurora; an aunt, Cindy Rios of Iowa City; uncles, Theodore Wells and wife Denise of Iowa City and Jim Newlin and wife Lisa of Houston, Texas; maternal grandparents, James Musack and wife Fran of Navarre, Fla.; paternal grandparents, Bob and Karen Rorex of Iowa City; and cousins, Ashley Newlin, Kaylee Newlin, Dominique Wells, Destinee Wells, Robert Wells and Mykalla Wells. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Grandmama Jeannine K. Musack; an aunt, Terri Kaye Rios; a cousin, Destinee Rios Whitte; and maternal great-grandparents, Orville Gerot and Beulah Tallman.
