SHIRLEY CAROL McDANIEL
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Shirley McDaniel, 86, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023, at New Era Lutheran Church. Pastor Aleese Kenitzer will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m., on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to New Era Lutheran Church or Muscatine Community YMCA.

Shirley was born on December 25, 1936, in Muscatine, the daughter of Clarence and Eva McCormick Mockmore. She married Kenneth McDaniel on August 14, 1955.

She was a Certified Professional Secretary and worked in the Muscatine School System as a secretary and worked for E&M Charities at the Octagon House before retiring. She was a member of the New Era Lutheran Church and Lunch Group with class of 1955.

Shirley enjoyed traveling with her husband, going to the YMCA and McDonalds, sewing, upholstery, and saving money. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Muscatine; three children, Kim Dierickx, Kris Gladwell, and Rick McDaniel and wife, Janet, all of Muscatine; eight grandchildren, Renee Johnson (Chad), Becka Dotson (Doug), Rob Gladwell, Ryan Gladwell (Alexandria), Rachelle Harris (Corey), Brady McDaniel, Marcus McDaniel, and Austin McDaniel; five great grandchildren, Brent Ford-Johnson (Courtney), Carissa Johnson (Trevor Anderson), Hunter Johnson, Cooper Gladwell, and Emory Gladwell; one sister, Joyce Rudbeck of Davenport; niece, Kellijayne Rudbeck; many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-laws, Ruth Curtis and Karen McDaniel.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marilyn Ferguson; and several other family members.
